United International University (UIU) organized Workshop On BAETE Accreditation For Computer Science And Engineering Programs
United International University (UIU) arranged a Workshop on BAETE Accreditation for Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Programs on 20 October 2023. Participants of this day-long workshop were Heads, Deans, and faculty members from different CSE programs, and professionals from CSE-related industries. The main objective of this workshop was to enhance understanding of Outcome Based Education (OBE) practice as well as the accreditation criteria in CSE programs. The Board of Accreditation for Engineering and Technical Education (BAETE) and IEEE Computer Society Bangladesh Chapter (IEEE CS BDC) were the co-organizers of the program.
Prof. Dr. Md. Shahriar Rahman from United International University (UIU) welcomed participants, while Prof. AFM Saiful Amin, Chairman of BAETE, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The Special Guest, Prof. Mohammad Shamsul Arefin, represented the IEEE CS BDC Ex-Com. Prof Md. Abul Kashem Mia, Vice Chancellor of UIU, chaired the program, overseeing its proceedings. Throughout the day, sessions were conducted by individuals such as Prof. Salekul Islam from UIU and a Board member of BAETE, Prof. Ahmed Wasif Reza from East West University (EWU), Prof. Nova Ahmed from North South University (NSU) and a Member of the Sectoral Committee for CSE, BAETE, Prof. Swakkhar Shatabda from UIU and a Member of the Quality Assurance Cell (QAC), BAETE, among others. The panel discussion, moderated by Prof. M Sohel Rahman from BUET and Chairman of the Sectoral Committee for CSE, BAETE, included panelists like Prof. Anisul Haque from EWU, Prof. Arshad M Chowdhury from BRACU and Vice-Chairman of QAC, BAETE, Prof. Salekul Islam from UIU and Board member, BAETE, and Faqueer Tanvir Ahmed from MF Asia Ltd, bringing diverse perspectives on the challenges faced in accrediting CSE programs. The session chairs, including Prof. K. M. Azharul Hasan from KUET, Prof. Hasan Sarwar from UIU and Board member, BAETE, Prof. Md. Saidur Rahman from BUET and Board member, BAETE, Prof. Arshad M Chowdhury from BRACU, Prof. Md. Abdur Razzaque from DU, and Prof. AKM Muzahidul Islam from UIU, ensured smooth conduct of the sessions, enriching the discourse on accreditation standards and practices.
Associate Professor Dr. Nafees Mansoor, Assistant Professors Dr. Mohammed Ashikur Rahman, Dr. Sohag Barman, and Dr. Noman Hossain, along with Lecturer Md. Ferdous Bin Hafiz, representing the CSE department at ULAB, participated in the workshop.
